Mother’s of Africa – Stitch Workshop/Final SquarePosted: December 16, 2014
In the stitch workshop this week, at first I just stitched over the negative spaces left by the batik using a pale blue/purple thread on the machine. However, I didn’t feel that this was bold enough for what I wanted the outcome to look like, so I added some bolder shapes (looking back at my research) using a thick bobbin thread and some French knots in the same colour. This was then a much more distinctive pattern that I was happier with.
I really enjoyed these workshops and I love the idea that something which I have made will be displayed somewhere so special.
