Stitch Workshop

Today in the stitch workshop I had a go at creating some samples inspired by the designs by fashion designer Carolina Herrera.

First attempt – nice effect but line not really strong enough.

Strengthened line using more than one line of stitching, much better effect and looks great.

Trying the same effect using appliqué. Contrast between the light and dark looks good when held up to light. Also created some great shadows.

Tried a combination of appliqué and just stitch, looks good but it is obvious when together that without the appliqué, the stitches look a lot messier.

When I held the samples up to the light of the window, I was so happy with how delicate and beautiful they looked. I can imagine these sort of designs on the skirt of a ballet style dress.
